“The mixtape is hosted by DJ Benzi and Dope Couture. It’s basically my cry for the OHIO scene to, well, BANG MY SHIT. Play it till your speakers bust. Wear out your buttons on your ipod or phone. Call up radio stations and request it.
It features a host of industry beats as well as original production from skilled producers, VJ OZ ,and BBanga. Not many guest appearances all like that, I tried to do that, but lets just say schedules didn’t work out. On it I am talking about alot of topics and flipping industry tracks to my liking. For example I spit over the ‘Beamer, Benz or Bentley’ beat. But I titled it ‘Poor dad, Rich Dad’ from the Robert Kiyosaki book. I tell a story about on one hand dude got a fresh Benz, bills to his neck, and living check to check, but on the other hand, there’s a cat(me) with a fairly nice car, no note, and still thinks highly of himself. So that’s just one example, there is a lot of stuff on there, showing you different styles, while pushing my values.
I know your probably tired of the basketball analogies, but in a lot of ways, rap is like a sport to me. I feel like when you play your first AAU tournament, and you pass the ball, go through the motions and your all about just being a contributing team player. Then the next game you kind of take over a little more, but after a while of this..your like damn, give me the ball, I’m pretty good, let me TAKE OVER. That’s how I feel, and that’s what the tape embodies. I’m done asking, I know what I am. Soon you will too.”

Columbus rapper NiQ, is releasing his 2nd mixtape, a high profile offering a year in the making. The mixtape is called ‘Bang My Sh*t’ and on it he commands the artistic firepower of some of the industry’s hottest beatmakers and Columbus’ best producers to deliver a rebellious sonic journey – one driven by his lyrical mastery and charismatic personality.
Bang My Sh*t is hosted by DJ Benzi, a Michigan based super DJ whose done work for and with some of the biggest names in the industry [Kanye West, Lil Wayne, The Clipse, Mick Boogie, Rick Ross, the list goes on. He's also broken Mike Posner and Donnis to the public with mixtape hosting and features [One Foot Out the Door, and the Motivation Mixtape Series], gaining them instant popularity in the hip-hop community.
The mixtape is sponsored, as is NiQ, by Dope Couture. Dope Couture is based in Indiana, and has risen to prominence in the short time they have been active. The line has been seen on the likes of Jay-Z, Drake, Lupe Fiasco, Wale, Chip the Rippa, Kidz in the Hall, and several other celebrities.
The tape is a mixture of industry beats and originals. The originals are produced by two producers. VJ OZ, who worked on NiQ’s single, ‘Rocker [Saturday night]‘, for his upcoming studio album. BBanga, who has produced tracks for Cam’Ron, Gucci Mane, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Kim Joyce and more.
The lyrics are aggressive and timely, commenting on the state of rap, the country and NiQ’s sense of destiny in events pushing his talents to the forefront. Filled with his signature punchlines, ad-libs and metaphors, it is a serious attempt to wake the rap community up to the burgeoning giant that is Ohio rap.
