NiQ, a twenty-something rapper, dreams of becoming a global music icon, and one day putting his neighborhood on the pop culture map. On Saturday, April 30th, NiQ will compete in the Seminfinals of the ‘Are You Radio Ready’ contest, sponsored by Pepsi and WCKX 107.5 Columbus . It’s a chance to finally get his hit single ‘Rocker’ onto national radio, and he’s looking to keep the spotlight once he has it.
The event headliner will be Cleveland rapper, MGK, on the first stop of his 2011 tour. As their true fans will know, this isn’t the first time NiQ and MGK have worked together. They together repped the ‘I Am Ohio’ mixtape, and performed last year at Al Rosa Villa. At that epic performance the crowd got a taste of what the future held for these two, and now poised for even greater success, their return to Skully’s it will bring it full circle for them and their fans. Cleveland has it’s new star in MGK and it’s time for Columbus to see that NiQ is their new star.

Wanted to do a drop for the 1 yr anniversary of ‘SEC:The Mixtape’
In the midst of the housing meltdown and beginning of a recession we decided it was time to give the world a free taste of NiQ. We did this tape with DJ Giovanny of Team Midwest Invasion at the beginning of last year, worked through the holidays on it. Fun project to make, and the first mixtape we did. Got tons of good feedback, and even some press on it, basically errbody showed love. Also, shouts to Dame Shepp, Digg, and Irv White for dropping bars for The Kid.
